Andhra Pradesh government has made all arrangements to evacuate about 64 thousand people from the areas likely to be affected due to Cyclonic Strom, Phailin which will have wind speed of 210 to 220 kilometer per hour. The Severe storm is likely to cross the coast tomorrow evening between Kalingapatnam and Paradip.
Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy told this to reporters after holding a high level review meeting in Hyderabad today. He said the state is fully prepared to meet any exigency as the met officials warned that the impact of the cyclone, Phailin will be very high especially on north coastal districts of the state, Srikakulam, Vizianagram and Visakhapatnam. He appealed to people to cooperate with the local authorities for evacuation .All steps are being taken to reduce the damages during and after the landfall of the Phailin.
Meanwhile, men and machinery have been kept ready in all coastal districts to face any eventuality. Nine teams of the National Disaster Response Force have also been kept as standby in Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam apart from East and West Godavari and Vizianagram districts. The army and Naval authorities are alert to provide all necessary assistance. Essential commodities like food, water and Medicines have also been stocked in shelters and buildings to be converted into relief camps.
