Around Rs 7.5 lakh crore earmarked for augmenting infrastructure alone in budget, says FM Sitharaman

<span style="color: #222222;">Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said, the Union Budget has laid the roadmap for the development of the country's economy for the next 25-years, called the Amritkaal. Addressing the Doordarshan Conclave on the Budget in Chennai on Monday afternoon, she said 7.5 lakh crore rupees has been earmarked for augmenting infrastructure alone in the budget. She said there is a provision to make one-lakh crore rupees available to the states for spending for infrastructure projects as interest free loans with a repayment period of fifty years. Ms Sitharaman said, for every rupee that is spent on infrastructure, there would be a return of 2.35 rupee in one year and upto 3.45 rupee in the next two to three years as it has a multiplier-effect on the economy.<br />'' <br />'' When asked about the impact of the ongoing Ukraine war on the nation's economy, minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, different central departments dealing with the economy are assessing the situation and a clear picture would arise after some time.<br />'' <br />'' On overcoming the learning gap due to the closure of schools for about two years because of the Covid pandemic, she said the Doordarshan will make two hundred channels available under its platform for all the state education departments to broadcast educational contents in the mother tongues of the children. She said there is no reduction in the allocation for skilling the youth.<br />'' <br />'' The Finance Minister said, 30 crore unorganised sector workers have registered themselves with the Union Government's e-Shram portal, reflecting the fact that more and more workforce are being brought under the organised sector.<br />'' <br />'' Ms Nirmala Sitharaman asserted that the central budgets since 2014 are focussed on women-led development as they aim at freeing women from the clutches of darkness through electrification of all villages, making them free from the perils of smoke by providing gas cylinders for all and by ensuring toilets in all households.<br />'' <br />''<br />''Earlier, in the morning, she interacted with the representatives of various industries and industry associations. In the meeting, she said exports to Ukraine and Russia are affected by the ongoing hostilities there, especially the farm produce. She also said getting payments for the goods that have already been exported also remains an issue as international bank transfer from the region is facing hurdles. However, she said all the link departments dealing with exports and imports are being consulted to devise a means for tackling the issue.</span><br />
