Around 9 cr 25 lakh people benefitted from Mudra Scheme in 2 years: Min

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla on Friday said that the Mudra Scheme launched to provide employment, livelihood and raising the living standard of people has benefited around 9 crore 25 lakh people in two years. <br/><br/>Addressing the gathering at Mudra Promotion Campaign Camp at Ludhiana, he said that the figures present the real picture of development of poor people. He said that the beneficiaries under Mudra Sceme in two years included 76 percent women and 55 percent people belonging to scheduled and backward classes.<br/><br/>The Minister said that with the implementation of Mudra scheme the attitude of banks has changed now, earlier they do not care for the needy people but now they work to find out the people to give benefit to them under this scheme. He said that government has fixed targets for banks to provide loans to common man under this scheme.<br/><br/>He appealed to the people not to go to the middlemen instead contact the banks directly. He also appealed to adopt the digital payment system and Bhim application to contribute in checking the corruption. Referring banks the backbone of poor people he said that banks should respond to their needs positively. On this occasion, Union Minister also distributed Loan Approval Letters under Mudra Yojana and Cheque under various insurance schemes.<br/>
