Around 75 percent voting has been recorded till five PM for the third phase of assembly polls in West Bengal. Many people are still waiting in the cue to cast their vote for 75 seats spread over Kolkata, North and South 24 Pargana districts.Reports say, Kolkata recorded slightly less percentage of votes and polling was temporarily marred by moderate rain in some parts of the city. State Chief Electoral Officer, Sunil Gupta said that polling was by and large peaceful, barring a few minor incidents. 17 Presiding officers were removed for dereliction of duties in North 24 Pargana and Kolkata. Seventy four Electronic Voting Machines have been replaced due to technical snag. The special observer appointed by the Election Commission Mr S.Srinivasan has expressed satisfaction over the voting in the three districts. In today's polling the fate of Chief Minister Budhadeb Bhattacharya and some of his important Ministers like Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta, Housing Minister Goutam Deb, and Land Reforms Minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah were sealed in the EVMs. From Trinamool Congress significant candidates were Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Partha Chatterjee, Mayor of the Kolkata Shovan Chatterjee, the former FICCI general secretary, Amit Mitra and the former Chief Secretary, Manish Gupta. Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress Chief Mamta Banerji has alleged that CPIM cadres resorted to rigging in a number of booths including Jadavpur, the constituency of the Chief Minister. She said, reports of rigging also came from Bijpur and Rajarhat. The CPIM has rubbished the claim of Ms Banerji.
