In West Bengal, around 70 per cent polling was recorded in Bankura and Daspur assembly by-elections today. The State Chief Electoral officer Sunil Gupta told reporters in Kolkata this evening that voting passed off peacefully without any major untoward incident. 66 per cent polling was recorded in Bankura while 73 per cent voters exercised their franchise in Daspur assembly segment. The two seats had fallen vacant following the death of two Trinamul congress legislators. The counting of votes will be taken up on next Friday.
