Around 1500 persons booked for violence on Bhopal gas tragedy anniversary

In Madhya Pradesh, police have registered nine separate cases and booked around 1500 persons in connection with violent incidents that happened on Saturday in Bhopal on the 27th anniversary of Bhopal gas tragedy.Bhopal’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yogesh Choudhry told AIR Bhopal correspondent that 14 persons have been arrested so far and around forty persons have been identified by name among the rioters.In one case communist leader Balkrishna Namdev has been booked apart from scores of others.The Saturday’s ruckus was recorded and on the basis of video footage, those who were involved in stone pelting and arson are being identified. Violence had broken out in Bhopal during the ‘rail roko’ agitation called by organisations.
