Army will not be engaged against naxals, clarifies Antony

The centre has ruled out deployment of armed forces for combat operation against the Naxals. The Defence Minister Mr. A.K.Antony told newsman in New Delhi today that there is no proposal for engaging army against Naxals. He said that internal security is entirely the matter of State Governments and Center is ready to provide them adequate Para military forces. The Air Force can retaliate only in self defence. In reply to a question on attack near Indian Embassy in Kabul, the defence minister said that India is taking the matter seriously through normal channel with the concerned authorities. On attack on Pakistan army headquarters today, Mr. Antony said that Pakistan should take sincere actions against terrorists not for the safety of India but in its own interest.
