In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army rescued 11 workers of Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) belonging to village ‘Al’ of Doda district of Jammu Division early on Monday morning. These employees had moved to the upper reaches of Alkanda region yesterday for repair of water supply system but got trapped in snow. 20 Army personnel of 8 Rashtriya Rifles from Army Post at Udyanpur were rushed to the spot alongwith a nursing assistant and emergency life saving medicines. After walking for more than 7 hours in the chest deep snow, the team finally reached the site at 4.00 am on Monday and found five of the trapped workers in extremely critical condition. The team provided necessary first aid to the trapped persons. After an effort of two hours, the workers were resuscitated by Army personnel and brought to their village. The Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Farooq Ahmad Khan has appreciated the efforts of the army men for speedy and timely assistance in saving 11 precious lives.
