Army orders inquiry into allegations against Lt. Gen A K Nanda

Army has ordered a court of inquiry into allegations of sexual misconduct against Engineer-in-Chief Lt Gen A K Nanda. Defence sources said that the probe will be conducted by a General-rank officer senior to him.

Earlier the Defence ministry had said that there are some allegations and preliminary investigations show that there are a number of loopholes in the account of allegations and further investigations are in progress. It, however, refuted the reports that General Nanda has resigned or has been asked to put in his papers.

General Nanda has been charged by the wife of a Colonel of sexual misconduct during their visit to Israel. She had taken up the matter with the Army Chief after their return from the foreign trip. The wife of the General has denied the allegations saying no such incident ever happened.
