Personnel of the Bangladesh army including officers have become victims of the landslides in the hilly districts of northeast, as the death toll rises to 50. <br/><br/>Sources in the army have confirmed the death of 2 officers and 2 soldiers in Rangamati's Manikchhari area. Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Manzurul Mannan said the army men were engaged in rescue operations when another landslide buried them. Amidst heavy rains and hostile natural atmosphere, the army, fire service, civil defence, and police are conducting rescue operations as the death toll rises with more bodies being recovered.Dozens have been admitted to hospitals and many remain missing. <br/><br/>The remoteness of some of the areas coupled with cutting off of roads and communications are making the rescue operations difficult. Roadlinks from Chittagong city to Bandarban, Rangamati and Cox's Bazar have been snapped. A number of fire service units have been stranded on the roads delaying the rescue operations.
