In Kashmir valley, an Army Major identified as Mukund and a jawan were killed in an encounter with militants in Manlo area of Shopian district. Sources say three militants were also killed in the encounter that started on Friday evening.

The gunfire ended today morning. The bodies of slain militants have not been recovered so far and the search operations at the encounter site were continuing when reports last came in. Army and special operations group of J &K Police had launched a joint operation in the area on specific information about presence of militants on Friday.
