The Army is being restructured and reorganised to shift its focus to capacity building. Talking to newsmen in New Delhi today, the Army chief General V.K. Singh said that Army is undergoing a major strategic shift from a threat-based force to a capability based force.Elaborating on this transformation, General Singh said that this being done to make the force more responsive and agile.He said the army headquarters will also be flattened for speedier decision making. He said, the Army is all set to theatrise its combat support through enhancing net-centric capabilities. In reply to a query on Chinese forces transgression into Indian side in Ladakh, General Singh said that this happens mostly due to different perceptions of both the Armies. He, however, maintained that the border on both the sides is calm and peaceful and the confidence building measures are going on.
