The Army has clarified that Sepoy Sindhav Jogidas Lakhubahi has never been employed as buddy of any officer or JCO nor has he ever been asked to perform any such duty. In a statement issued in New Delhi, the Army also refuted the allegations related to this and ill treatment of Jawans by superiors as false and baseless. It said, the operational and professional effectiveness of Indian Army which rests on bedrocks of discipline, trust and spirit de corps cannot be diluted based upon false and non-existent perceived grievances and misdemeanors of a few. <br/><br/>The Army urged the media to verify the factual information from Army before going public on such issues that cast defamatory allegations on Army. The clarification came in the backdrop of allegation of the Sepoy on social media that jawans are provided with lowest quality fruits and vegetables in many units and complained about the poor treatment meted out to some of them by their seniors. It said investigations revealed that Sepoy Lakhubahi had applied for pre-mature release from the Army and he was advised counseling before taking the final decision.<br/><br/> During duty at the ICU at Military Hospital Ranikhet he refused to obey instruction of Nursing Officer to clean bed pan of a bed ridden patient which he was mandated to perform as per his trade of housekeeper. For disobedience to duty, he was given 7 days imprisonment within the Unit. Later on his request, he was posted to a Military Hospital in Leh and is currently in transit to his place of posting.
