Army foils major infiltration bid near LoC

Five terrorists and an Army officer were killed and two jawans injured as troops foiled a major infiltration bid near the Line of Control in Gurez sector of the Kashmir Valley on Saturday. Defence Spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said, a large group of heavily-armed ultras was trying to sneak into the Gurez Valley from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir when they were noticed by the troops. They were challenged by the soldiers, leading to a gun battle which was going on till reports last came in. This is one of the biggest infiltration bids by the terrorists from PoK this year. Attempts by the ultras to infiltrate from PoK into the Valley have increased as the natural passes along the LoC will be soon closed with the onset of winter.
