Indian Army has floated Request for Indent for Future Ready Combat Vehicle (FRCV), to identify innovative design options, which will be the base for futuristic platform. Giving this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said it is also planned to subsequently develop other need-based variants on this platform. He said these platforms are to meet the futuristic requirements of the Service beyond 2027 and are not in conflict with the current Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun program and its future orders. <br/><br/>The Minister said Defence Research and Development Organization has successfully completed project for development of MBT Arjun in March 1995, by delivering 12 Prototypes and 15 Pre Production Series tanks. The Minister said two Armoured Regiments after producing 122 MBT Arjun tanks for induction into Army.
