Army day being celebrated today; Army Chief says, Pakistan is still harbouring terrorists near border

Today is Army day. The Day is celebrated on 15 January every year in recognition of Field Marshal Kodandera M. Cariappa's taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Fransis Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, on 15 January 1949.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Army Chief General M M Naravane has said that the incidents of violence have come down significantly due to the continuous efforts of the security forces. Speaking at a function on Army Day in New Delhi, General Naravane said, a total of 194 terrorists were killed in counter operations in the last one year. He said, in line of control, the situation is better than last year but Pakistan is still harbouring terrorists near the border. Army Chief said, about 300 to 400 terrorists are waiting to intrude in India.</span>
