Lt Gen P K Rath has been convicted in Sukna land scam in a court Martial. The court in its order said that the Lt.Gen has been found guilty on three counts – for signing the agreement with the builder, approving construction of a school near the military land and not informing the command headquarters about the decision. The sentence has been scheduled for tomorrow. The sentence will have to be confirmed by the army chief and the ministry of defense. Lt.General Rath can also appeal against the order in Army tribunal or the Supreme Court. The court martial was being held since September last year. It was convened by the army with Lt.General I P Singh as the Presiding Officer following a decision to this effect. The Sukhna land scam came into open in mid-2008 and the names of Avdesh Prakash and P K Rath figured among the four senior Army Officers for favoring a private builder in the case.
