Army Chief VK Singh meets his Nepalese counterpart

Army Chief General V. K. Singh met his Nepalese counterpart met his Nepalese counterpart Chhatraman Singh Gurung in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The two generals are understood to have discussed bilateral cooperation and strengthening of military ties between the two countries. The two Generals met at the Nepal Army Headquarters after the Indian Army Chief arrival.General Singh is in Nepal to attend a Regional Seminar on Natural Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance organised by Nepal Army.General Singh, who is leading a three member delegation, will address the closing session of the seminar on Thursday. He will also call on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattari tomorrow besides meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar.Besides representatives from the SAARC countries, high officials of US Pacific Command and Chinese military officials are attending the seminar aimed at sharing knowledge and skills on disaster preparedness among the participating countries.

Altogether 60 delegates and observers of SAARC countries, China and the US, are taking part in the three day regional seminar.
