Army Chief V.K. Singh on Sri Lanka visit

The Army chief General V K Singh today visited the North and the East of Srilanka. He flew to Vavunia where Major General Kamal Gunaratne, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters Wanni briefed him on the ongoing resettlement and de mining issue.Later he visited an Indian de-mining site at Omanthai, prior to his visit to places of religious and cultural interest at Anuradhapura. In Trincomalee , the Indian Army Chief visited the Oil Farm, Monkey Bridge, Naval Dockyard, Naval Museum and sacred Koneshwarm Hindu Temple. General Singh also pay a courtesy call on the Governor of the Eastern Province. General V K Singh is in Sri Lanka on a five day visit to promote bilateral military ties and defence cooperation between the two countries.
