Army Chief on three-day visit to Mongolia today

The Army Chief General V.K. Singh will be embarking on a three day visit to Mongolia today to strength defence ties. General Singh's visit marks the first visit by an Army Chief to Mongolia in seven years.

An army spokesperson said in New Delhi that defence cooperation between India and Mongolia encompassed conduct of joint exercises and training of Mongolian armed forces at Indian establishments.

AIR correspondent reports that the President Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has visited Mongolia in July this year. This was first ever visit by any Indian President in last 24 years.

Following her visit among other agreements several defence cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries. General Singh's visit is a follow up to these agreements.
