Chief of Army Staff, General Dalbir Singh today flagged in the first ever all girls National Cadet Corps, NCC Mount Everest expedition team. Addressing the flagging in ceremony in New Delhi, General Singh said the NCC cadets have displayed courage, highest levels of physical fitness and dogged determination. He lauded the NCC cadets saying mountaineering is a challenging and risky adventure sports and the girls are a role model for others.<br/><br/>The expedition team successfully scaled the world's highest peak on 21 and 22nd of May. The team of ten girl cadets was led by Col Gaurav Karki, along with fifteen service personnel. AIR correspondent reports all ten girl cadets are between the age group of 17 and 21 years. The aim of mountaineering expeditions in NCC is to strengthen the character and instill qualities of courage, comradeship, discipline and leadership in the cadets.
