Army Chief Bipin Rawat reviews security situation in J&K

The Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat on Friday visited White Knight Corps in Jammu and reviewed the operatinal preparedness and the prevailing security situation of the area.<br/><br/>Defence spokesperson told AIR that the Army Chief was briefed by GOC 16 Corps about the preparedness in dealing with the emerging security situation and the measures taken to thwart any misadventure by the inimical forces. <br/>The Army Chief also visited Rajouri and Akhnoor Sectors along the Line of Control wherein he was briefed on the operational readiness by the Army commanders.<br/><br/>At the forward posts along the LoC the Army Chief was briefed in detail on the actions being undertaken to ensure a robust counter infiltration grid. He also interacted with the soldiers deployed on the forward posts and exhorted the troops to continue to remain vigilant.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat visited the Srinagar based Army's 15 Corps commonly called Chinar Corps and took stock of the overall security situation. <br/><br/>The Army Chief who arrived in Srinagar yesterday late afternoon, was briefed by the Corps Commander Lt Gen JS Sandhu on security and the measures to meet the challenges posed by weather. Armymen had experienced avalanche challange in the higher reaches of North Kashmir's Bandipora and Kupwara districts, where 20 soldiers including a Major and a JCO lost their lives. <br/><br/>Paying tributes to the deceased soldiers, Gen Rawat laid emphasis on the need to be constantly aware of the weather patterns prevailing in the area and take all necessary precautions to avoid any untoward incidents.<br/><br/>Gen Rawat commended the alertness of all troops deployed along the Line of Control in foiling the nefarious designs of inimical forces. He stressed the need to continue endeavours in maintaining a high degree of vigil. <br/><br/>He appreciated the professionalism of the troops and urged to uphold human rights in all circumstances.
