In West Bengal, a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered today following a combing operation by the combined forces in forests between Salboni and Lalgarh. The Superintendent of Police, West Midnapore, Mr. M.K.Varma said a number of suspected Maoists have been detained and they are being interrogated at the moment. A gun battle started between the Maoists and the combined forces in the forest areas when the forces entered the forest in search of the extremists late last night. Details are awaited.
