In Maharashtra, an armed group of Naxalites gunned down the abducted Sarpanch of Istari village in Deori taluka of the Naxal-affected Gondia district yesterday. As per Police sources, the body of the victim, Ghanshyam Koretti was found in a pool of blood with two bullet wounds in the Missipiri-Dhamditola forest. The Istari Sarpanch was abducted by an armed group of Naxalites on Monday night. The Naxals fled from the spot immediately, leaving a note that the man was being punished for being a police informer. However, as per the police version, he was a Naxal supporter and used to help them conduct their unlawful activities. The police have launched search operation to nab the culprits.
