Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that the armed forces personnel who have retired prematurely will be covered under the One Rank One Pension, OROP Scheme. Addressing a rally at Faridabad in Haryana, Mr Modi said that there is no need to be misled as those who have to compulsorily retire after 15 to 17 years will be benefited the most from the decision. Mr Modi said, the respect for armed forces veterans and those who laid down their lives for the nation is paramount for the country<br/><br/>Referring to the one member Commission proposed to be set up, the Prime Minister said that the armed forces should not be misled on the issue also as this is not a pay commission but to address any shortcomings as the issue is complex<br/><br/>Mr Modi also slammed people trying to mislead the armed forces over the government's OROP decision and made a veiled attack on Congress saying the party has no right to raise questions since it did nothing in 40-42 years. He said, there is a new fashion that when the government takes a good decision it is questioned by those who do not want development.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Congress accused the NDA Government of diluting the OROP scheme. Party leader and former Defence Minister A K Antony said that yesterday's decision of OROP is a substantial dilution of the UPA's announcement.
