Armed Forces Flag Day was observed today throughout the country. The day is observed every year to remember the sacrifices of the gallant servicemen in defending the integrity of our motherland and to express solidarity with their families and with the sick and disabled ex-servicemen. On this occasion, the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) officials pinned Armed Forces Flag Day Lapels on President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Defence Minister AK Antony and the three Service Chiefs and others. The fund raised on this day is used for marriage, medical assistance, education grants and relief to ex-servicemen besides hosts of other welfare measures.
