Argentine superstar Lionel Messi arrived in Kolkata in the wee hours on Wednesday. However, more than 1500 frenzied supporters and hordes of mediamen, who stayed awake through the night, failed to get a glimpse of the star footballer. Messi made a silent exit from the airport VIP gate amid high security without being noticed. Near stampede like scenes were witnessed outside the airport as the football-crazy fans danced shouted cheers for Messi and Argentina. The crowd this time was larger than the turn-out during Diego Maradona's visit about three years back.
