Alleged ISIS recruit Areeb Majeed, who recently returned to Mumbai from Iraq, has revealed the names of people who played a major role in radicalizing him and his three other associates to join the militant outfit in Iraq. This was stated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials who grilled Majeeb in Mumbai yesterday.
Refusing to divulge the names, the officials said that they are verifying Majeed’s claims and trying to locate the local contacts named by him. They said that Majeed told them that he was disappointed as he was denied a role in the field and was instead asked to provide various services to their fighters.
The NIA said that Majeed also revealed during the interrogation that his resolution weakened after he was left unattended for a bullet injury that he had sustained during training and was taken to a hospital after three days. Majeed admitted that he and his three friends underwent training on handling of sophisticated AK 47 and rocket launchers. The officials also said that Majeed told them that ISIS fighters raped women and there was neither a holy war nor any of the preachings in the holy book were followed.
