In Paris, Archery recurve team finals are underway. Indian team comprising Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhakat and Simranjeet Kaur are playing against Chinese Taipei team comprising KUO Tzu Ying, LEI Chien-Ying and PENG Chia-Mao at the World Cup Stage-3 event. The Indian trio beat Ukraine, Britain and Turkey en route the summit clash, which assured them of a medal at the event.
Third seeded Chinese Taipei team started their campaign with a 6-2 win over 19th seeded Bangladesh before beating sixth-seeded USA 5-1 in the quarterfinal followed by a 6-2 win over second-seeded Germany in the semifinal.
Earlier yesterday, Archers Jyothi Surekha Vennum and Abhishek Verma won the gold medal in compound mixed team event. Jyothi also clinched a silver in the individual event after a heartbreaking loss in the final to Great Britain's Ella Gibson in the shoot-off. In the compound mixed team final, the Indian duo beat France 152-149. Both Indian archers hit 9s to win country's first medal at the ongoing event.
