Indian archery coach Cherukuri Lenin died in a car accident near Vijayawada on late last night. Chittibomma Jignesh and Ritul Chatterjee – both silver medallists in the Delhi Commonwealth Games were also injured in the mishap. Lenin was 25 and is survived by wife. According to the police, the driver of the Sports Utility Vehicle SUV in which Lenin was travelling tried to avoid collision with an auto rickshaw and hit the divider at Jupidi village, about 40km from Vijaywada. They were coming back from the ceremony organised by Chief Minister K Rosaiah to felicitate the sportspersons of Andhra Pradesh, who got a rich haul of medals at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games. Chief Minister K Rosaiah and state sports minister K Venkata Reddy have offered condolence for his death.
