Arjuna awardee Verma scored 710 points, breaking his own previous national record of 709 points set during a senior ranking tournament at New Delhi last year. An ecstatic Verma said that every archer should have fresh and record breaking targets in mind, only then a player can perform well in international and national level competitions. A total of 136 archers including 10 Olympians are taking part in the tournament. This is for the first time that the tournament of this level is being conducted in Punjab.
