In Afghanistan, archaeologists have discovered two rare stupas and a Buddha statue in Bamiyan province. A team of Afghan and French archaeologists led by Prof. Zamaryalai Tarzi, a well known Afghan Archeologist, is working on this excavation project since last month. Prof. Tarzai said, excavation of one stupa has completed, while the work on the other is going on. The first stupa is 8 meter long and 8 meter wide and measurement of the second stupa is being undertaken. Pieces of a broken statue of Buddha have also been recovered from the site. According to the experts, this discovery is a great achievement and it will throw light on the ancient history of Afghanistan. So far the team has discovered more than 150 objects which include 7 stupas, heads and busts of broken statues of Buddha, carved stones as well as silver and gold coins.
