ArcelorMittal plans to set up steel plant in Karnataka

The Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. B.S. Yeddyurappa has said that World’s largest steel maker ArcelorMittal plans to set up a six million tonnes per annum integrated steel plant in Karnataka. An ArcelorMittal team, led by the Group’s board member Sudhir Maheshwari met the Chief Minister, State Industries Minister Murgesh Nirani and top officials to discuss the project proposals. Yeddyurappa said this in Bangalore after the meeting that the Indian subsidiary of ArcelorMittal proposes to invest 30,000 crore rupees to set up the steel plant and a 750mw power plant in North Karnataka. The prestigious project is set to create about 10,000 jobs when implemented in the next four-five years, Yeddyurappa said.<br/>
