A seminar on new rules for the International Court of Arbitration under International Chamber of Commerce, ICC, was held in New Delhi today. The main changes made in the rules include provisions and procedures to address concerns about time and cost, transparent and comprehensive provisions for complex arbitrations, changes to facilitate treaty-based arbitrations and emergency arbitrator procedure. In his opening remarks, President of ICC India Harsh Pati Singhania suggested virtual mode of arbitration and reduction of fees for resolution of business and commercial disputes . On his turn, Secretary General of the Paris-based ICC said that the idea of payment by installments for arbitration is being considered and a decision will be taken soon. The main objective of the seminar was to provide greater understanding of the revised rules which reflect the growing demand for a more holistic approach to dispute resolution techniques.
