A high level meeting on Syria, of foreign ministers of the Arab League, has been convened at the Moroccan capital Rabat on November 16. Although Syria has requested for an emergency Arab Summit, it is not clear how the 22-member Arab League would react to its proposal. Syrian state television said the aim of its proposed summit would be to discuss the unrest and the negative repercussions on the Arab situation. Arab League Officials will be discussing with Syrian opposition groups today, the road map to transition of power in Syria. However, the League Chief says, it is too early to consider recognizing the Syrian opposition as the country’s legitimate authority.
