Arab League endorses resumption of indirect peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis

The Arab League has endorsed the resumption of indirect peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis.
The foreign ministers from the 22-nation body announced their decision last night after a meeting in Cairo. The Qatari foreign minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem told a news conference that two months had been set for the talks to take place and if these negotiations go well, we will extend this.
The endorsement came a day after the US secretary of state Hillary Clinton announced that the peace process was likely to resume next week. The talks will not be the face-to-face meetings but would involve US officials meeting with one side at a time.
Meanwhile the chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat has said that Arab League has set a condition to support the continued talks and this would be a halt of settlement activity in the West Bank. He said if Israel builds one house in the West Bank, Palestinians will immediately stop the negotiations.
