Arab-India ties high on agenda in forthcoming meet

Bilateral trade between Saudi Arabia and India and ways to promote ties will be high on the agenda at the 8th session of the Indo-Saudi Joint Commission meeting beginning at Riyadh today. The Indian delegation will be led by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Deputy chief of mission at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, Mr. Rajeev Shahare said the follow-up to the historic "Delhi Declaration", which was signed during the 2006 visit of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, will be an important agenda for discussion during the talks.The Joint Commission for economic, trade, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation was set up in 1981.Potential areas for cooperation between the two countries include hydrocarbons sector, power, railways, roads, telecom, information technology, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, consultancy, education, tourism and tourism-related infrastructure.
