Arab foreign ministers have urged the United States to abandon its decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, saying the move would increase violence throughout the region.<br/><br/>The Council of the Arab League in a statement late last night after its extraordinary session on Jerusalem said that the announcement by President Donald Trump was a "dangerous violation of international law", had no legal impact and was "void".<br/><br/>The session which was called on the behest of Jordan was attended by all its 22 members in Cairo. Condemning the US decision on Jerusalem , head of the Arab League said that it was 'dangerous and unacceptable' and described it as a "flagrant attack on a political solution" to the Israeli-Palestinian Arab conflict.<br/><br/>Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir in the meeting said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had warned that any US declaration on Jerusalem before reaching a final settlement would harm peace negotiations and makes them more complicated, stressing that this is a provocation to the feelings of Muslims around the world and a bias in the US position.<br/><br/>Saudi Press Agency reported that Riyadh not only deplores this step, it believes that it constitutes a bias in the US position. <br/><br/>It also violates the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, which affirm that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 and considers Israeli actions and violations targeting the city of East Jerusalem and its sanctity, identity and demographic structure as null and void. <br/><br/>In this sense, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia underlines the international consensus rejecting this decision.
