In the Philippines, more than three quarters of the votes have been counted in the Presidential elections. Benigno Aquino, the son of the popular former president, Cory Aquino, has established a clear lead over the second place candidate Joseph Estrada. Mr. Aquino had campaigned on a strong anti-corruption platform. He led the opinion polls throughout his election campaign and is expected to win with a sizeable majority. <br/>
