Aqua Technology Park commissioned in Kerala

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today commissioned the Aqua Technology Park, the first of its kind in the country at Kadungallur near Aluva this evening.<br/><br/>The park, established at a cost of over 10 crore rupees, will serve as a platform to promote production, conditioning and export of ornamental fish. The park has six export hubs established in the first phase at Kadungallur, besides satellite farms and homestead farms in other places in the state where ornamental fishes are produced for export.<br/><br/>The Minister of State for Agriculture, Prof K V Thomas inaugurated the export hubs. The project envisages to provide direct jobs to 25,000 people and aims to increase the country's share in the world ornamental fish market from the current level of 0.01 per cent to 10 per cent. Exports will begin from the park next month. The park will be run by Kerala Aqua Ventures International Ltd, a company promoted jointly by the state government and private entrepreneurs.
