APSRTC hikes passenger fares by 10%

Andhra Pradesh State owned Road Transport Corporation-APSRTC has hiked its passenger fares by 10 per cent across its fleet including ordinary services and the city bus services in Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The new fares will come into force from early tomorrow. The average hike per kilometre will be between 4 to15 paisa in different category fleet. The fare in luxury bus- Garuda Plus service will now increased from 1.50 rupees to 1.65 rupees per kilometre where as it hiked from 55 paisa to 59 paisa per kilometre in ordinary buses. The Corporation is likely to generate an additional revenue of 500 crore rupees. The corporation incurred losses to tune of 745 crore rupees during the two-month long strike by employees in Seemandhra region in favour of the united Andhra Pradesh.
