The government today said that the appointment of judges in the higher judiciary is a collaborative and integrated process. The process involves both the Executive and the Judiciary requiring consultation and approval from various constitutional authorities.<br />'' <br />'' Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju said differences of opinion are mutually reconciled by the Executive and the Judiciary to ensure that only the appropriate person is appointed to the high constitutional post of a Judge. He said against the sanctioned strength of 34 judges in the Supreme Court, 32 judges are working, and recommendation to fill up the remaining two vacancies received from the Supreme Court Collegium is at various stages of processing.<br />'' <br />''The Minister said 771 judges are working in the High Courts against the sanctioned strength of 1108 judges, and 337 posts of judges are lying vacant, and 127 proposals recommended by the High Court Collegiums are at various stages of processing. Mr Rijiju said recommendations against 210 vacancies in the High Courts are yet to be received from the High Court Collegiums.
