Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that Andhra Pradesh will get more benefits under the special package compared to benefits extended to a Special Category State. Speaking at a function organised by the BJP to felicitate him in Vijayawada yesterday, for getting the special package to the State, he said his party would fulfill all its promises made to Andhra Pradesh on the eve of bifurcation, Venkaiah Naidu gave details of special package benefits and problems about special category status.

He alleged the Andhra Pradesh faced injustice due to a conspiracy of the Congress party. He said though he had demanded that the Centre accord special status to Andhra Pradesh the situation has changed after submission of the recommendation of 14th Finance Commission. He pointed that the situation would have been different had the Special Status issue was incorporated in the AP Reorganization Act by the Congress party.

Mr. Naidu said he spoke in Parliament not only on special status to Andhra Pradesh, but also asked to meet the deficit. He lamented that had Andhra Pradesh was divided in 1972 itself at the height of Jai Andhra movement in which he too participated as a student, the situation would have been different now with the State faring well in all sectors.
