In Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Joint Action Committee held protest demonstrations and ‘rasta roko’ today at several places across the region. Demanding the government to introduce a bill on statehood for Telangana in Parliament, the Committee launched a non-cooperation agitation throughout Telangana region two days ago. Work in government offices has come to a standstill at mandal level in some parts of the region while functioning at offices in the state capital, Hyderabad also got affected to some extent. The agitators are undertaking ticket-less travel in the public transport buses and payment of bills and taxes has touched a minimum.Meanwhile, five buses including 3 public transport buses were set on fire by unidentified persons last night near the Osmania University in Hyderabad. Police also said two police pickets were also destroyed.
