Normal life in 13 districts of Seemandhra regions of Andhra Pradesh has crippled due to power crisis following electricity employees struck work since yesterday in favour of united Andhra. Thousands of villages in the two regions are reeling under power-cut as major losses of electricity reported at two major Power Generation Units to a tune of five thousand mega watts. All major services like drinking water supply, medical services and railways have been badly hit due to the crisis.
Rail traffic has been the worst hit due to power crisis. Dozens of Passenger and express trains have been cancelled and many rescheduled in Vijayawada , Gudur, Nellore and Rajahmundry sections. Some long distance express trains were hauled through diesel locos. The South Central Railways has set up control rooms and help lines at all major stations to monitoring the situation and passenger information. Five special trains are being run today to clear the stranded passengers at major railway stations in the division.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 28 people who resorted to violence in curfew-bound Vizianagaram during pro-united Andhra demonstrations last Saturday. Shoot at sight orders are in place in the district headquarters to bring the situation under control. IG Vikram Singh Mann said oday that no incident of violence reported during past 12 hours. He said 22 others who indulged in violence also were identified and they will be nabbed soon. 10 Deputy Inspectors General camped in Vizianagaram to continuously monitor the situation. A large number of Rapid Action and additional Paramilitary forces have been deployed in the city. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is continuously reviewing the law and order situation in the wake of pro united Andhra agitation in Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions.
Demanding equal justice to both Telangana and rest of Andhra, TDP President Chandrababu Naidu is set to begin his indefinite fast in Delhi this afternoon. On the other hand, YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy continuing his indefinite hunger strike demanding for United Andhra on the third day today.
