Andhra Pradesh speaker N. Manohar has rejected the resignations of MLAs belonging to Telengana region who resigned on the statehood issue. In a statement in Hyderabad, Legislatiive Assembly secretary Raja Sadaram said the resignations were turned down by the speaker on the ground that they were made in an emotionally surcharged atmosphere. About 100 MLAs belonging to the congress, Telugu Desam, Telengana rashtra samiti, CPI and the BJP submitted their resignations to the speaker on 4th and 5th of this month, demanding that the centre should initiate the process on formation of Telengana state. All Parties criticised Speaker’s action and are meeting this afternoon separately to discuss their future course of action.
