Andhra Pradesh government has announced a new scheme for girl child protection, Bangaru Talli (Golden Girl). The scheme will formally come into effect across the state from today. All the girls born in BPL families from today will eligible to get benefit of the new scheme. Aimed at protecting girl child from gender discrimination and improve sex ratio, the scheme will provide periodical cash benefits right from her birth till she attains 21 years of age. A girl in a Bellow Poverty Line Family will be eligible to get a total 2 lakh 16 thousand rupees benefit as an encouragement till she completes her graduation.
