AP proposes separate Agri Budget for current fiscal

Andhra Pradesh Government has proposed for the first time today, a separate Agriculture Budget of 13,109.39 crore rupees for the current fiscal, 2014-15. This includes 6735.44 crore rupees under planned budget and 6373.95 crore rupees under non-plan. Focussing on reducing cultivation costs and achieving higher coordination with allied sectors, State Agriculture Minister P. Pulla Rao has presented the first ever agriculture budget of the state to the Legislative Assembly. He set a target of achieving 127 metric tonnes of food grains this year.Announcing the wavier of crop loans up to one lakh fifty thousand rupees to each family, the minister allocated 5000 crore rupees during the year. He proposed Agriculture credit of 56,019 crore rupees through banks. The minister also said 1386 crore rupees will be spent under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGP for Agriculture and development of allied services. The minister proposed 3188 crore rupees for supplying free power supply to farmers and the government will replace existing pump sets in next five years, at a rate of 10 thousand Solar Pump Sets every year. The Government has allocated 50 crore rupees for the proposed National Agriculture University in the state, post-bifurcation.
