In Andhra Pradesh, opposition legislators including Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu have been taken into custody following their sit-in protest over farmers’ problems in Hyderabad last evening. The TDP and left party MLAs have been demanding the Government to address the problems of farmers who suffered huge losses due to recent rains in the state. Initially the opposition members have launched a sit-in dharna protesting denial of entry to a farmers’ delegation into the Assembly premises to take up their woes with Chief Minister N Kiran kumar Reddy. They have been taken into custody and shifted to a local stadium where they have been released. The opposition leader along with his legislators refused to go back and spent whole night at the stadium demanding the Government to immediately announce a relief package for farmers. He set a dead line till 16th for the Government on the issue. In a protest Mr Naidu has also proposed to take out a Padayatra from the stadium to Assembly this morning.Meanwhile, Government has released about Rs 431 crore towards immediate relief in the wake of huge losses incurred by different sectors in the state.
