Andhra Pradesh High Court today set aside the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as the Director General of Police of the state. A divisional Bench comprising Justices Raghuram and M S Ramachandra Rao has dismissed separate writ petitions filed by the state government and Dinesh Reddy separately challenging the orders of Central Administrative Tribunal which set aside the appointment of the Dinesh Reddy as DGP.Upholding the CAT directions, the High Court has directed the state government to start the process of selecting the new DGP again and complete it in two weeks. The Court also directed the state to continue Dinesh Reddy as an in-charge till the new DGP takes over. While dismissing the writ petition, the Court also imposed costs of five thousand rupee on the state Government. Initially, a senior IPS officer, Gowtham kumar had moved the CAT stating that the seniority was kept aside in the appointment to the highest post in the state Police Force.
